Description
Deesha Barry, also known as Daisya Barry, is a character from Bodrum, a seaside town in Turkey. Before joining the Black Order, he was the eldest brother in a family of merchants, often tasked with helping in the family shop or watching over his younger siblings. Despite loving his family, he harbored a deep desire for adventure, which became his primary motivation for becoming an exorcist.
Deesha is a young man of average height, standing at 169 centimeters, with a slim build of 58 kilograms and A-type blood. He has sharp facial features and wears distinctive markings under his eyes that resemble pointed tear tracks. His uniform consists of bandages in place of a shirt, a long coat, and thigh-high boots, but his most notable feature is the long, pointed hood of his cloak, which resembles the headgear of a medieval court jester. This hood holds his Innocence at its tip when not in use. His brown hair is typically hidden beneath bandages or a cap.
In terms of personality, Deesha is known for being energetic, somewhat rude, and full of playful mischief. His fondness for jokes and pranks often got him into trouble, as he once used his Innocence to crack the glasses of his own master, General Froi Tiedoll, though Tiedoll affectionately dismissed it as simple teasing. Deesha hates nothing more than boredom, and his final words reflect this sentiment. He enjoys soccer and has a particular fondness for shark as a food.
Deesha is a disciple of General Froi Tiedoll and serves as a member of Tiedoll's rescue team alongside his fellow exorcists Yu Kanda and Noise Marie. Despite being teammates, his relationship with the stern Kanda appears strained, and he teasingly refers to the older Marie as an old man. His master, Tiedoll, describes him as a good kid, indicating a warm bond beneath the surface.
As an exorcist, Deesha wields an Equipment-type Innocence known as the Charity Bell, also called the Bell of the Neighbor. True to his love of soccer, this weapon takes the form of a hollow ball that he kicks like a football. When activated against Akuma, the Charity Bell produces powerful resonant sound waves. A notable technique involves kicking the Innocence directly into an Akuma's skull, where the ball acts as a clapper and uses the skull as a bell, amplifying its resonance to destroy the target from within. This ability is potent enough to destroy Level 2 Akuma and can also cause nearby Level 1 Akuma to explode from the shockwaves.
Deesha's role in the story is significant but tragically brief. When the Order learns that the Noah Family is targeting the Generals, he is dispatched with Kanda and Marie to locate and protect Master Tiedoll. During their mission, while searching through a city overrun with Akuma, Deesha encounters the Noah, Tyki Mikk. In a devastating confrontation, Tyki destroys the Charity Bell and kills Deesha. His body is later discovered hung from a lamppost by chains, arranged in a pose resembling an inverted cross. Upon learning of his disciple's death, General Tiedoll openly weeps and burns a sketch of Deesha's hometown as a tribute. Deesha dies at the age of 19, and his death leaves a lasting impact on his comrades, particularly Tiedoll, who remembers him as a good-hearted young man.
