Description
Kibito Kai, also known as Kibitoshin, is a divine being who appears in the anime Dragon Ball GT. This character is the permanent fusion of two deities from the Seventh Universe: the East Supreme Kai and his attendant, Kibito. They used the Potara earrings to merge, a decision they immediately learned was irreversible. In the timeline of Dragon Ball GT, this fusion remains intact, creating a single entity out of the two distinct individuals.

In terms of appearance, Kibito Kai combines features from both of his components. He has the purple skin, facial features, and voice of the East Supreme Kai, but wears the clothing and possesses the long, white hairstyle of his former attendant Kibito. His personality is almost entirely inherited from the East Supreme Kai. As such, he is a polite, responsible, and well-meaning deity who takes his duty of protecting the universe seriously. However, he also exhibits a somewhat comical and clumsy side, a trait that becomes more noticeable in Dragon Ball GT as he interacts with the ancient and perverted Elder Kai. He is often bewildered by the Elder Kai's un-godly temperament and advice to simply relax and enjoy eternity.

Kibito Kai's motivations throughout Dragon Ball GT are consistent with his role as a god. His primary goal is to protect the Earth and the entire universe from powerful threats. While possessing significant power, he generally acts as a support character, using his unique abilities to aid the main fighters rather than engaging in direct combat himself. His extensive knowledge of the universe's history, artifacts, and techniques makes him a valuable source of wisdom.

His role in the story is crucial during the Baby Saga. When the parasitic alien Baby overpowers a transformed Super Saiyan 4. He does this by working with the Elder Kai, using giant pliers to forcibly pull out his tail, a painful but necessary process to unlock his primal power. After Goku defeats Baby, Kibito Kai remains a concerned observer. Along with the Elder Kai, he is one of the few characters who understands the grave consequences of overusing the Dragon Balls. When the negative energy from the Dragon Balls finally manifests as the Evil Shadow Dragons, Kibito Kai helps explain the origin of these new enemies, revealing that decades of selfish and frequent wishes have corrupted the mystical artifacts.

Kibito Kai's most significant relationship is with the Elder Kai, the ancient Supreme Kai who trained him. In Dragon Ball GT, the two deities are often seen together on the Sacred World of the Kai, with Kibito Kai acting as the straight man to the Elder Kai's eccentric and lazy behavior. He respects the Elder Kai's power and knowledge, even if he is frequently exasperated by his methods and demeanor. His relationship with the Earth's fighters, particularly Goku, is one of mutual respect. He is dedicated to helping Goku when needed, recognizing him as the best hope for the universe.

Regarding development, Kibito Kai does not undergo a significant personality transformation in Dragon Ball GT. Instead, he remains a consistent supporting figure from his introduction in Dragon Ball Z through the end of GT. His main function is to facilitate the plot through his abilities and knowledge, rather than to experience a personal arc of growth. The fusion is permanent in this series, so he never reverts to being two separate beings.

Kibito Kai possesses a variety of notable abilities that make him an invaluable ally. His most frequently used power is a unique form of teleportation. Unlike Goku's Instant Transmission, which requires sensing a person's energy signature, Kibito Kai's technique allows him to teleport to any location instantly, without needing a specific energy to lock onto. This power is used multiple times to transport characters across vast distances. He can also restore the physical energy and stamina of wounded individuals, a healing ability he inherited from Kibito. From his life as a Supreme Kai, he retains magical abilities such as telekinesis, the power to read minds, and the capacity to create physical objects from thin air, like the heavy Z-Sword. While he is a capable fighter with power exceeding that of a standard Super Saiyan 2, his tactical role in GT primarily emphasizes his support skills over his combat prowess.
