Description
Koyuzu Shigaraki is a tanuki yokai born into the Bakedanuki clan on April 6 in the Bakedanuki village. Learning transformation at age five to live among humans, she was left alone by age ten. Struggling to maintain her disguise, she lost her place and resorted to living in abandoned mountain houses. Her situation shifted upon encountering Chisaki Miyazaki, whose breasts Koyuzu deemed ideal for perfecting her human form. This led Koyuzu to remotely stalk Chisaki using possessed stuffed animals for observation, inadvertently frightening her.
Koyuzu's actions prompted an investigation by Kogarashi Fuyuzora and Yuuna Yunohana. After a confrontation in a city park where Koyuzu used transformation to create a leaf monster against them, she revealed her true form—a childlike figure with visible tanuki ears and tail—and explained her motives. Chisaki forgave her and permitted continued observation. Kogarashi and Yuuna then arranged for Koyuzu to reside at Yuragi Inn, integrating her into its community.
Her tanuki physiology grants abilities including transformation (though she often retains animal features), remote object control, illusion creation, and possession—the latter requiring mutual trust with a host. She manipulates special leaves for effects like size alteration, power nullification, and empathic manipulation, such as a love-inducing drug. One leaf transformed Chisaki into a giant "DX" version, demonstrating large-scale transmutation.
At Yuragi Inn, Koyuzu developed close bonds: a sibling-like relationship with Kogarashi enabling mutual possession; gratitude toward Yuuna, leading her to create a fake body for Yuuna to inhabit; and breast-focused admiration of residents like Sagiri Ameno and Nonko Arahabaki. Her bond with Chisaki deepened into familial closeness, facilitating effortless possession. She also befriended Yaya Fushiguro over shared magical girl anime interests, occasionally roleplaying as "Magical Girl Pokorun" with Yaya as her familiar.
