Description
Doctor Myū is a Machine Mutant and a primary antagonist in Dragon Ball GT, serving as a brilliant but ruthless scientist whose quest for universal domination drives several major story arcs. He is the creator of General Rilldo and the one who ultimately completes the creation of Baby, though the true nature of his relationship with his ultimate creation is more complex than it first appears.
A native of the planet M2, Doctor Myū is a highly advanced scientist who modified his own body to become a Machine Mutant. His ambition is absolute control of the entire galaxy, and he pursues this goal by creating powerful mechanical beings to do his bidding. To that end, he constructed General Rilldo as an enforcer and sought out the Black Star Dragon Balls to gather the energy needed to complete his greatest project, a being named Baby. He also employed other agents, such as Dolltaki and the giant Machine Mutant Luud, to further his plans.
While Doctor Myū presents himself as the master architect behind Baby, a significant reversal of this dynamic is later revealed. Baby was not merely a passive creation but had actually programmed Doctor Myū from the start, using his scientific genius to facilitate his own development and eventual awakening. When the parasitic Baby finally emerges, he does so by bursting directly out of Doctor Myū's body, killing him and revealing that the scientist was little more than a pawn in his own scheme. Despite this cold fate, Baby is noted as the sole being toward whom Doctor Myū did not act with complete cruelty.
After his death, Doctor Myū continues to play a role from the afterlife. While in Hell, he forms a temporary alliance with the notorious Doctor Gero, the creator of the Androids who plagued the heroes in Dragon Ball Z. The two mad scientists collaborate to build a duplicate of Android 17, known as Hell Fighter 17. Their plan is to fuse this duplicate with the original Android 17 on Earth, creating an unstoppable fusion called Super 17. However, true to his treacherous nature, Doctor Myū secretly alters the duplicate's programming behind Doctor Gero's back, ensuring that Super 17 would only obey him.
This betrayal is immediate and fatal. When Super 17 is activated, he kills Doctor Gero on Doctor Myū's orders, proving Myū's control over the new being. For a time, Doctor Myū believes his dream of universal conquest is finally within reach as Super 17 dominates the Z-Fighters, even overpowering the immensely powerful Super Saiyan 4 Goku. In his arrogance, Doctor Myū begins to bark orders at Super 17, demanding he destroy Goku and Android 18. This attempt to command the android backfires catastrophically. Refusing to be controlled by anyone, a furious Super 17 turns on his would-be master and kills him with the very attack he was ordered to use. This marks the second time one of his own creations has destroyed him.
Doctor Myū is characterized by a cold, calculating, and supremely arrogant personality. As a classic mad scientist, he takes immense pride in his intellect and looks down on others, viewing everyone as tools to be used and discarded. He is extremely treacherous and dishonest, demonstrated by his willingness to betray and destroy his ally Doctor Gero without hesitation. He shares a distinct visual and thematic similarity to Doctor Gero, both being elderly scientists with distinctive mustaches and a penchant for creating mechanical warriors who ultimately rebel against them. In the English dub of the anime, this characterization is further emphasized by giving him a German accent and having him occasionally use German phrases.
In terms of abilities, Doctor Myū is not a frontline fighter. His primary weapon is his genius-level intellect, which rivals the best scientific minds in the Dragon Ball universe. However, like most characters in the series, he does possess the ability to fly using ki. He is also capable of generating ki blasts for offensive purposes, with one notable technique being an energy sphere called the Psychic Bomber. Despite these powers, he never engages in direct combat with the main heroes, preferring to let his powerful creations fight his battles.
