Description
The Dragon of the Four-Star Ball in Dragon Ball GT is named Suu Shenlong, also known as Nuova Shenron. He is the fifth of the seven Shadow Dragons to confront the protagonist, Goku. His origin is distinct among his kind, having been born from the negative energy released when the evil King Piccolo wished for the restoration of his youth during the original Dragon Ball series.

Suu Shenlong is defined by a personality that starkly contrasts with his brethren. While he is technically an antagonist, he is a warrior of profound honor, justice, and loyalty. He strictly adheres to a personal code of fair play, refusing to attack an opponent who is at a disadvantage, showing mercy to innocents, and despising underhanded tactics like sneak attacks or blinding an enemy. He is calm, serious, and rarely smiles, carrying himself with a grave demeanor reminiscent of characters like Piccolo or Vegeta. Unlike his cunning and treacherous twin brother, the Three-Star Dragon, Suu Shenlong is straightforward and respects any opponent who proves their strength and courage.

His primary motivation is the thrill of a fair and honorable battle. He seeks to test his own power against a worthy adversary and shows little interest in the destruction or domination that motivates the other Shadow Dragons. In his first encounter with Goku and Pan, he easily defeats the reckless Pan with a single blow but, upon Goku's request, gently sets her aside without further harm, stating he has no desire to fight a child. This act of respect is the foundation for a unique, respectful rivalry with Goku, who sees a kindred spirit in the noble dragon. Suu Shenlong is the only Shadow Dragon to form an alliance with the heroes, driven by his disgust for his malevolent kin rather than a desire for redemption.

Throughout his role in the Shadow Dragon Saga, Suu Shenlong evolves from a formidable enemy to a crucial, tragic ally. After his first battle with Goku is interrupted by his brother, he demonstrates his honor by refusing to participate in a two-on-one fight. When his brother traps Goku, Suu Shenlong secretly uses his own fire to melt the ice and free him, disgusted by the foul play. This act of defiance leads to his first death at the hands of the primary villain, the One-Star Dragon, who murders him for his perceived betrayal. He returns later, however, when Goku swallows the Four-Star Ball, allowing the dragon to be reborn from Goku's positive energy. Initially appearing to be under the One-Star Dragon's control, Suu Shenlong reveals this to be a ruse. His genuine motivation is to get close enough to the primary villain to launch a final, sacrificial attack, attempting to destroy him from within using his immunity to extreme heat. He ultimately perishes for good when the One-Star Dragon forcibly takes over his body to survive the blast.

Suu Shenlong's notable abilities are all tied to his elemental control over fire and the sun's plasma. His body possesses an incredible temperature that can reach up to 6000 degrees Celsius, hot enough to burn an opponent on contact. In his initial, restrained form, he has red skin. When he unleashes his full power, his outer shell falls away to reveal a sleeker, golden-yellow body, significantly increasing his speed and combat effectiveness. He possesses immense speed, capable of outmaneuvering Goku even in his Super Saiyan 4 form. His signature techniques include the Nova Death Ray, where he concentrates solar energy to fire a devastating beam, and the ability to generate a Nova Sphere, intensely hot energy ball capable of engulfing an opponent. In his final confrontation, empowered by Goku's positive energy, his power is sufficient to briefly restrain the immensely powerful Omega Shenron and even outmatch Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta. His power in this state is considered on par with a full-power Super Saiyan 4 Goku.
