Description
Motoharu Kimata is the leader of the Salvation Union, a faction in the crumbling underground city of Lux that opposes the use of texhnolyzation, the process of grafting mechanical prosthetics onto the human body. Despite publicly preaching the strength of the natural human form, Kimata himself possesses a texhnolyzed left arm, a contradiction that underscores his pragmatic and possibly hypocritical nature. His role in the story is that of a secondary antagonist to the Organo crime syndicate, as he orchestrates attacks and conspiracies to undermine their control over Lux. Key relationships include his alliance with Inui, a subordinate within the Salvation Union, and his direct confrontation with Keigo Onishi, the head of the Organo, who visits Kimata’s headquarters to question him about assassination attempts. As the series progresses, Kimata prepares his remaining men for battle against the Shapes, biomechanical soldiers that threaten to overrun the city. His motivations appear rooted in a desire to preserve humanity’s organic integrity, yet his own augmentation reveals the difficulty of maintaining ideological purity in a world where technology is both a tool and a curse. Kimata does not undergo significant personal development; he remains a fixed symbol of the Salvation Union’s doomed resistance. His notable ability lies in his leadership and organizational skills, allowing him to rally followers and pose a credible threat to the ruling powers, even as the city descends into chaos.
