Description
Alyssa Searrs is a young girl who appears to be around nine years old and is a student in the elementary division of Fuuka Academy. She is widely known throughout the school for her exceptionally beautiful singing voice, which has earned her the nickname the Golden Angel. Alyssa has a very shy and timid personality, frequently clinging to her constant companion and caretaker, Miyu Greer. She rarely speaks unless spoken to and dislikes interacting with people she does not know. Despite her bashful demeanor, she demonstrates a strong sense of conviction, believing she fights for a clear purpose, in contrast to the other HiMEs she opposes. Her favorite foods include chocolate mint ice cream, and she has a particular fondness for the colors gold and black.

The truth about Alyssa is that she is not a natural HiME. She is the successful product of a genetic engineering program by the Searrs Foundation designed to create an artificial HiME, making her a manufactured lifeform. As part of this program, her very existence is a tool for the foundation's ambitions to seize the power of the real HiMEs and usher in a new Golden Age. Her adoptive father is the CEO of the Searrs Foundation, and she is motivated by her loyalty to him and the foundation's goals. Her role in the story is that of an antagonist, secretly monitoring the other HiMEs from an observation center in a church basement alongside Miyu. She is an irregular participant in the HiME festival, one whose powers are manipulated by the Searrs Foundation for their own ends.

Her most important and defining relationship is with Miyu Greer, an advanced android created by a scientist named Joseph Greer to be her guardian and protector. Alyssa trusts Miyu completely and is almost always seen at her side, relying on her for both emotional support and physical protection. This bond is so deep that Alyssa's greatest fear is being separated from Miyu. Another key relationship is with her adoptive father, the Searrs Foundation's CEO, who is revealed to be her "most important person," the one whose loss would cause her the most pain.

As an artificial HiME, Alyssa possesses the ability to manipulate higher-order matter, but she cannot summon a personal Element or weapon for defense like a natural HiME. To compensate for this weakness, she is assigned Miyu as her protector. Her primary power lies in her Child, named Artemis, which takes the form of a massive artificial satellite orbiting the Earth. From this satellite, Alyssa can fire a devastating laser attack known as the Golden Thunder, which has the power to destroy large structures like bridges. Artemis also possesses an automatic defense system to protect itself. Alyssa can also summon and control creatures called Orphans, though doing so places a great strain on her body. A unique trait of Alyssa as a HiME is her ability to manipulate the rule of the "offering," the person whose loss would cause her Child to be destroyed. Unlike natural HiMEs, whose offering is automatically their most beloved person, Alyssa's offering was artificially set to be the Searrs Foundation's CEO. This irregularity is what ultimately allows her android Miyu to survive after Artemis is defeated. When she uses her powers, her hair glows with a golden light.

Over the course of the story, Alyssa moves from being a passive tool of the Searrs Foundation to a tragic figure who fails in her mission. When the Searrs Foundation begins its open invasion of Fuuka Academy, Alyssa and Miyu attempt to capture the school's headmistress, Mashiro, but are foiled by a decoy. In a final confrontation in space, Alyssa's Child, Artemis, is destroyed by the fire element HiME Mai Tokiha's transformed Child, Kagutsuchi. The destruction of Artemis causes the death of Alyssa's most important person, her father, at the Searrs headquarters, and Alyssa collapses from the shock. A weakened Alyssa is carried away by Miyu, but they are found by Joseph Greer. Under orders from the Searrs Foundation for her failure, Greer shoots and kills Alyssa. A devastated Miyu retaliates by killing Greer, then carries Alyssa's body into a frozen lake, mourning the loss of the golden light she loved. Despite this tragic end, Alyssa's presence persists. A small flame speaking with her voice later activates a special mode within Miyu to aid the other HiMEs in the final battle. In the end, Alyssa is ultimately revived alongside the other HiMEs by the power of Mashiro.
