Description
Ganzou Tenma is a character from the anime Grenadier. He initially appears as the leader of a bandit group. His past is marked by a violent act, as his group was responsible for the death of Mikan's parents when one of his men, a senshi, killed them.
In terms of personality, Tenma is introduced as an antagonist driven by selfish and destructive goals. He tracks the protagonist, Rushuna, to a location called the Peach Blossom Tower after she rescues two workers from his bandits. Demonstrating his ruthless determination, he conspires with another character named Banmaru Zoushi in an attempt to destroy the tower. His motivations at this stage are primarily focused on retaliation and maintaining his power as an outlaw.
Despite his villainous introduction, Tenma undergoes a notable change following his defeat. After Rushuna defeats him in combat, he is shown mercy when Mikan, whose parents his bandits killed, chooses to spare his life. This act of forgiveness has a profound effect on him, leading him to abandon his life of crime. He subsequently reforms and joins the side of his former enemies, becoming an ally to Touka Kurenai. In this new role, he assists in the rebuilding of the Peach Blossom Tower, the very structure he had once tried to destroy, indicating a complete reversal of his earlier intentions.
Physically, Tenma is characterized as an adult male with brown eyes and short brown hair that reaches approximately ear-length. His key relationships are central to his role in the story. His connection to Mikan is particularly significant, as he was complicit in the tragedy that shaped her life, yet her mercy becomes the catalyst for his redemption. His relationship with Rushuna is defined by his defeat at her hands, which serves as the turning point for his character development. Finally, his relationship with Touka Kurenai transitions from adversarial to cooperative, as he joins her cause and contributes to her community's restoration.
