Mokona Modoki, also known as Soel, is a small white rabbit-like creature created by the dimensional witch Yuko Ichihara and the sorcerer Clow Reed. It is a replica of an original dimensional god named Mokona, and was made specifically for Sakura as a countermeasure against certain events that were foretold to occur during her journey. Mokona serves as the fifth member of the main group in Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, acting as a guide and companion to Syaoran, Sakura, Kurogane, and Fai D. Flowright. Its age is never clearly defined, reflecting its nature as a magical entity rather than a living being with a normal lifespan. Its personality is bright, cheerful, and energetic, often displaying a playful and teasing demeanor, particularly toward the serious ninja Kurogane. Despite its lighthearted nature, Mokona demonstrates moments of genuine wisdom and emotional insight, especially when comforting Sakura during times of doubt. Its primary motivation is to aid Sakura in recovering her scattered memories and to fulfill the purpose for which it was created, which involves countering the plans of the series' antagonist. Throughout the story, Mokona remains a constant source of support and levity for the group, and its role becomes increasingly important as the journey progresses. Mokona possesses a wide range of abilities, collectively known as its 108 Secret Skills. The most important of these is dimensional travel, which allows it to transport the group between different worlds. It also functions as a universal translator, enabling characters who speak different languages to understand one another. Mokona can sense strong magical auras, teleport objects across dimensions, and communicate with its counterpart, the black Mokona named Larg. The red earring it wears is later revealed to contain a one-time power capable of repelling magical curses, though the full nature of this ability is not explained. Mokona is not designed for combat and relies on its allies to handle physical threats. Its relationships with the other characters deepen over time, particularly with Sakura, whom it protects and comforts, and with Kurogane, whose serious personality contrasts with Mokona's playful antics. The bond between Mokona and Larg adds another layer to the story, as the two are connected across dimensions and their interactions enrich the narrative. Mokona appears in both the manga and anime adaptations of Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, as well as in related series such as xxxHOLiC.
