Booby, designated Perman No. 2, is a chimpanzee superhero recruited by Birdman, an extraterrestrial guardian upholding galactic peace. Birdman selected him under a strict non-discrimination policy valuing animals and humans equally. Originally residing in a zoo, Booby executed nocturnal escapes for hero duties until his background shifted; he then lived as a pet with an elderly couple, streamlining his superhero missions.

Highly intelligent but unable to speak human languages, he communicates through sign language and vocalizations only fellow Permans understand. His behavior consistently reflects human mannerisms. An orange copy-robot safeguards his secret identity by substituting for him during absences.

His closest connection is with Mitsuo Suwa (Perman No. 1), featuring mutual care, shared escapades, and occasional clashes. He maintains strong bonds with other Permans, especially Pako (No. 3) and Peryan (No. 4). Demonstrating emotional perceptiveness, he expressed early grief over Pako's departure and physically intervened to stop Mitsuo from hindering her. Collaborating with Peryan, he helped reunite Pako with the team multiple times. Both occasionally teased Mitsuo and Pako about their mutual affection.

His adventures sometimes center on animal interactions, utilizing his ability to converse with them. Once, he developed romantic feelings for a female chimpanzee. Frequently, he aids his human teammates in navigating human-centric challenges.
