Description
Kōichi Yamada, alias Perman No. 5 or Perbō, is a minor character confined to the original manga and its 1960s anime adaptation. As the Permans' youngest recruit at age two, Birdman inducts him after he accidentally witnesses Mitsuo Suwa transforming into Perman No. 1. To safeguard Mitsuo's secret identity, Kōichi receives Perman status with a yellow helmet, pink cape, and pink P-shaped badge.
Despite his infantile speech, Kōichi displays surprising wisdom and combat skill, aiding the Permans against criminals. His core purpose involves protecting Mitsuo's dual identity, but his tenure proves brief. After limited early appearances in manga and anime, the character vanishes from all later adaptations, including the 1983 revival and films, for undisclosed reasons. Nearly all manga chapters featuring him were also omitted from compiled volumes, cementing his absence in official media.
No subsequent narrative development, spin-off appearances, or involvement in other Perman media like OVAs or films exists beyond the initial manga and 1960s anime.
