Ritsuko Chigusa is the mother of Kyoko Otonashi and a recurring supporting character in Maison Ikkoku. She is a demanding woman in her fifties who is stubborn, calculating, and deeply involved in her daughter’s personal life. Her primary motivation is to see Kyoko happily remarried, but her idea of happiness diverges sharply from Kyoko’s own desires.
