Description
Kho Cheng-Shin is a spacecraft pilot assigned to the Technora Corporation's Second Aerospace Division, operating from the ISPV 7 space station. Born on April 8, 2051, he is a graduate of the Pilot Section of the Taiwan Sky Dragon Aerospace School, having acquired his license to pilot first-class small craft in 2069. Over the following years, he earned additional qualifications including a special security communication license and a license as a 2B grade model aerospace pilot before his assignment to Technora in April 2072.

In terms of personality, Cheng-Shin initially presents as a capable and reliable young man. He has been a long-time friend to both Hachimaki and Claire, with all three having arrived at the space station together. He frequently serves as a confidant to Hachimaki, offering a listening ear and advice to his more driven and obsessive colleague. However, beneath this composed exterior lies a more complex and vulnerable individual. Cheng-Shin possesses a strong belief in meritocracy and the idea that hard work should be justly rewarded. This worldview, born from his own successful career path, leads him to see himself as a nice guy who inherently deserves positive outcomes. Consequently, he struggles significantly when faced with professional or personal setbacks. When his emotional stability is threatened, he can become bitter and exhibit pettiness, revealing a less admirable side of his character that contrasts with his earlier image.

His personal motivations are heavily tied to his unrequited romantic feelings for his coworker, Ai Tanabe. This crush is a significant driver of his actions and contributes to his internal conflicts, particularly as he observes the developing relationship between Tanabe and Hachimaki. This situation is further complicated by the affections of another colleague, Lucie Ascham, who harbors a crush on Cheng-Shin and, hoping to see him happy, wishes for Tanabe to end up with Hachimaki.

Within the narrative, Cheng-Shin serves as a key member of the supporting cast. His role often places him as a stabilizing presence among his more headstrong friends, though his own struggles with envy and insecurity come to the forefront as the story progresses. He experiences a notable personal crisis, a downward spiral triggered by his feelings of inadequacy and being overlooked, which leads to him being pulled from a flight assignment due to his emotional state. This period of turmoil is a crucial part of his development, as it forces him to confront his own flaws and the fragility of his carefully constructed self-image. By the end of the series, he has managed to regain his footing professionally and personally, demonstrating resilience. His loyalty to his friends remains intact, as evidenced by his presence alongside Hachimaki during a visit to their imprisoned former colleague Claire, showing his enduring commitment to those he cares about.

As a pilot, Cheng-Shin is highly skilled and qualified to operate various classes of spacecraft, holding multiple advanced licenses that attest to his technical competence and training. His abilities allow him to perform his duties under pressure as part of the debris collection team, although his emotional state can impact his professional judgment and performance during times of personal crisis.
