Description
Fee Carmichael is the American pilot and commander of the debris collection spacecraft known as the Toy Box, and later its successor, the Toy Box 2, at the ISPV 7 space station. Born in Richmond, Virginia on March 9, 2039, she is the daughter of a prominent lawyer. Her academic background includes graduating from the Faculty of Social Welfare at South Florida State University in March 2063. She initially joined Dolph Azalia's Traom Space Development Company the same month, and when the company was acquired by Technora in April 2065, she and Dolph joined the larger corporation, starting in its Business Division. Over the course of her career, she earned her license to pilot lunar craft in December 2065 and then a license to pilot 2B grade model aerospace craft in December 2070, before being transferred to the Debris Section at the ISPV 7 space station in September 2068.

Physically, Fee is an adult woman with black hair cut to neck length and blue eyes. Her personality is defined by being loud, brash, and fiery, often described as even more outspoken than her colleague Hachirota Hoshino. She frequently becomes violent in response to others' actions or inactions, reacting with frustration or aggression, though these outbursts are consistently motivated by good intentions and a genuine care for her teammates. Beneath her abrasive exterior, she demonstrates strong leadership qualities and genuinely has the best interests of her team at heart, showing more capability in this regard than her immediate supervisor.

A defining and recurring aspect of her character is her identity as a heavy smoker, a habit she continues despite the stringent environment of a space station. Because smoking puts a strain on life support systems, it is strictly restricted to designated smoking rooms. This limitation often makes her quite irritable, a situation only worsened when all smoking rooms are shut down after the SDF begins planting bombs in them. To cope, she uses an enclosed personal smokers seat, though this device is prone to inadvertent sabotage by her colleagues. She is described as being slightly ashamed of her smoking habit.

Fee is married and has a young son, with her family living in Florida on Earth. However, she spends most of her time working in space, and as a result, sees her family infrequently. Her role in the story is central as the pilot and operational commander of the debris collection missions, making her the direct leader of the main cast as they go about their work of cleaning up dangerous space debris. She maintains key relationships with her crew, including the enthusiastic and space-obsessed Hachirota Hachimaki Hoshino, the calm and compassionate Russian member Yuri Mikhalkov, and the earnest newcomer Ai Tanabe. Her nickname, given to her by the mechanic Gigalt, is Turbolighter. Her professional history is also tied to Dolph Azalia, with whom she worked before both joined Technora, and who remains a figure in her background. Throughout the course of the story, her character remains a steady and experienced presence, whose development is tied to her management of the teams challenges and her own personal life, balancing the roughness of her personality with a deep-seated commitment to her crew. Notably, she possesses the piloting skills and licenses necessary to command aerospace craft, making her the most capable pilot in the debris section and the one entrusted with flying the team into dangerous situations to retrieve debris.
