Description
Daichi is a character who appears exclusively in the anime adaptation of the Saint Seiya series. He is one of the three original Steel Saints, a group of warriors who wear artificial, technologically advanced armors known as Steel Cloths. These warriors were created as a secret project by Mitsumasa Kido and Doctor Asamori to serve as a supplementary force for the goddess Athena and her Bronze Saints.

In terms of background, Daichi was one of the many orphans gathered by the Kido Foundation. He was selected to undergo a special training regimen intended to create a warrior who did not rely on the traditional inner energy known as Cosmo, but instead on mechanical power. His physical appearance is that of a young boy, characterized by his short, lime green hair and dark blue eyes, giving him a typically youthful and pleasant demeanor.

The personality of Daichi, as with his fellow original Steel Saints, is defined by loyalty and a strong sense of duty. Despite being artificial warriors who do not possess the Cosmo of natural Saints, he demonstrates unwavering courage, willingly engaging powerful enemies far stronger than himself. He is portrayed as a reliable comrade and a team player, essential for the combined attacks he performs alongside Ushio and Sho.

Daichi's primary motivation is to protect Athena and support the Bronze Saints in their battles against evil. He emerges from secrecy during the conflict against the Silver Saints, making his first appearance to help turn the tide of a battle in Athena's favor. Throughout the Sanctuary arc, his role is that of a supporting combatant and auxiliary ally. He is present during key confrontations, such as assisting the Dragon Shiryu against Algol of Perseus and aiding in the search for the Sagittarius Gold Cloth helmet. However, when the Bronze Saints depart for the Sanctuary in Greece, Daichi and his companions remain in Japan and disappear from the narrative of the original series because their Steel Cloths reached their operational limits.

Key relationships define Daichi's place in the world. He shares a very close bond with his fellow original Steel Saints, Sho of the Sky Cloth and Ushio of the Marine Cloth. Together, they form a formidable combat unit. He also holds deep respect for the goddess Athena and the core Bronze Saints, viewing them as comrades-in-arms. In the spin-off series Saint Seiya Omega, Daichi returns as a legendary Steel Saint, maintaining his allegiance to Athena and now associating with a new generation of warriors while still fighting alongside his original companions.

Daichi exhibits notable development over time. In the classic series, he is a secret weapon whose abilities are limited by his armor's mechanical nature. By the time of Omega, he has evolved into a legendary figure among the Steel Saints. His experience is shown to be invaluable, as he helps to fend off powerful invaders known as Pallasites. In this later story, despite his armor again reaching its limits, he and the other Steel Saints demonstrate that their willpower and friendship allow them to awaken a fragment of the mysterious Omega power, enabling them to stand against godly foes.

Regarding his abilities, Daichi's power is derived almost entirely from his Land Cloth, which is inspired by the constellation Vulpecula. This armor grants him specific combat capabilities. His signature technique is the Steel Hurricane, a powerful combined attack performed in unison with Ushio and Sho that generates a devastating whirlwind. True to his name, which means earth in Japanese, his individual abilities are related to the ground, such as generating earthquakes to destabilize opponents. In Omega, his status as a legendary Steel Saint allows him to hold his own against second-class Pallasites, enemies who are considerably powerful.
