Description
Harry MacKenzie is a supporting character in School Rumble, known for being a charismatic and athletic foreign exchange student who becomes an informal rival to the series protagonist, Kenji Harima. He is a student in class 2-D at Yagami High School, placing him in the class directly opposite Harima's class 2-C. His birthday is November 17th, making him a Scorpio, with B blood type. While some sources describe his nationality as British, he is most consistently identified as an American transfer student.

Harry is depicted as tall and handsome with a distinct and flashy appearance. He has blonde hair that is typically worn at neck length and blue eyes, often seen sporting a pair of sunglasses and a red coat. His mode of transportation is a distinctive yellow motorcycle, which further adds to his cool and conspicuous image. This overall look is widely considered a parody of the character Char Aznable (specifically his Quattro Bajeena persona) from the Mobile Suit Gundam series.

Personality-wise, Harry is portrayed as suave, flirtatious, and effortlessly cool. He carries himself with a charm that makes him very popular among his female classmates, and he seems to possess a natural ease when interacting with them. He is typically calm and collected, though he does show signs of irritation on occasion. His athletic ability is extremely high, and he is shown to be a strong competitor in physical activities, often besting his peers without appearing to exert much effort. Despite his confident demeanor, he harbors a deep reverence for samurai and other aspects of Japanese culture.

Harry's primary role in the story is as a friendly rival to the protagonist Kenji Harima. This rivalry is born almost entirely from a misunderstanding. When class lists are posted at the start of the school year, Harima misreads the foreign name Harry MacKenzie as his own (Harima Kenji) due to the lack of spacing between kanji, leading to confusion about his class placement. This initial mix-up establishes Harry as an unintentional obstacle. Harima sees Harry as a rival, feeling threatened by his "effortless cool," good looks, and popularity, which stand in stark contrast to his own gruff and delinquent image. Harry also becomes a rival to Haruki Hanai, the proud leader of class 2-C, who sees Harry and his class 2-D as natural enemies to be challenged.

His most significant relationship is with his best friend, Tougou Masakazu. The two are almost always seen together, often spending time at the WAS Burger restaurant or issuing challenges to class 2-C. While they form an effective team, Harry is not entirely comfortable with Tougou's dramatic and bombastic nature, and notably bristles when Tougou calls him partner. Harry has also shown a flirtatious interest in several girls from class 2-C, including Karen Ichijou and Tsumugi Yuki, and his athletic abilities make him a capable partner for the foreign wrestler Lala Gonzalez during the school sports festival.

Because he is introduced later in the series, Harry does not undergo significant character development. His role remains consistent as a cool and capable secondary character whose primary function is to act as a foil to the more hot-blooded and unlucky Harima. His notable abilities include superb athleticism and a high level of physical fitness, as demonstrated during the sports festival and various confrontations. He also drives a sports motorcycle that parodies a Gundam design. His cool and collected nature is, in itself, an ability that allows him to navigate social situations with ease and charm.
