Naota Nandaba is the twelve-year-old protagonist of the anime FLCL, a sixth-grade boy living in the seemingly uneventful town of Mabase with his father, Kamon, and his grandfather, Shigekuni. His older brother, Tasuku, left for America to play baseball, and Naota carries around his brother’s baseball bat as a symbol of his admiration. His name derives from the Japanese word for honesty, which his father chose for him.
