Lord Gaav, also known as the Chaos Dragon or Demon Dragon King, is one of the five most powerful subordinates serving Ruby Eye Shabranigdu, the dark lord of the Slayers world. He serves as the primary antagonist of the anime series Slayers Next until his demise.
His background is rooted in the Kouma War, also called the War of the Monster's Fall, which took place roughly a thousand years before the events of the series. During that conflict, Gaav was directly responsible for the death of the Water Dragon God Ragradia, one of the four guardian deities. In retaliation, the dying Water Dragon God attempted to seal Gaav's power by trapping him within a human body, mirroring the seal that the Flare Dragon Ceifeed had placed on Shabranigdu himself.
