Description
Nolt is a member of the Marcus clan, a family of notorious and highly skilled vampire hunters active on the Frontier. He is the tallest of the Marcus brothers and has a distinctive appearance: a white cross is painted on his face, and tubes extend from the back of his head. His primary weapon is a large wooden hammer or a hexagonal staff with sharp protrusions on both ends, designed to function as stakes. He is fiercely loyal to his brothers and feels a strong animosity toward the Barbaroi, a group of mutants hired by the vampire Meier Link. Nolt’s role in the story is as part of the rival hunting team hired by Charlotte Elbourne’s brother to retrieve her from Meier. During the pursuit, the Marcus brothers believe they have found Meier’s carriage, and Nolt is sent to investigate. He discovers the carriage is empty except for a piece of cloth, and he is killed by the Barbaroi member Benge, who uses his ability to manipulate shadows. Nolt’s death provokes the rest of the Marcus brothers to seek vengeance against the Barbaroi. He does not undergo significant development, as his death occurs relatively early in the narrative. His notable abilities include considerable physical strength and skill with his large hammer, making him a formidable opponent in direct combat.
