Description
Lulara Kawasaki is a character from the DNA² story whose background and role differ between the manga and anime adaptations. In the manga, she is the youngest daughter of the Mega-Playboy, the extreme womanizing persona of Junta Momonari, and is counted as his 101st child. In the anime, she is re-imagined as Junta's great-granddaughter from one hundred years in the future. She has short orange hair and blue eyes and appears as a teenage girl.
Her personality is initially that of a cold and determined antagonist. In the manga, she possesses high psychic abilities and travels back in time with the intent of having a child with Junta, aiming to create a descendant powerful enough to counter a dangerous version of Junta known as Devil Junta. This makes her the final obstacle of the story. In the anime, her motivation is different: she is brainwashed by a character named Mori and sent back as a puppet to turn Junta and his descendants into zombie-like slaves, including herself. Her will is suppressed by Mori's control, and she acts as an unwitting tool.
Key relationships center on Junta, who is both her ancestor and, in the manga, the father of the child she seeks. In the anime, her bond with Mori is one of master and controlled slave. Her development occurs near the climax: in the manga, when Junta overcomes his Mega-Playboy nature, the future changes and she vanishes while crying out. In the anime, Karin Aoi's heartfelt persuasion breaks Mori's brainwashing, allowing Lulara to regain her true self and side with the protagonists. She then shows genuine emotion, shedding tears as she fades away from existence due to the altered timeline.
Her notable abilities include powerful psychic powers, which she can use offensively in combat. In the manga, she is portrayed as a formidable psychic fighter capable of challenging even the enhanced Junta. Overall, Lulara Kawasaki serves as a tragic antagonist driven by her lineage and external manipulation, ultimately finding redemption or erasure depending on the version of the story.
