Description
Eimi Ohba is a recognizable supporting character from the anime Comic Party, known for her role as a talented and fiercely ambitious creator in the world of dojinshi, or self-published comics. Standing at 158 centimeters tall with green hair and petrol-colored eyes, she is a high school student whose birthday falls on March 20th. Eimi leads a popular and highly successful dojinshi circle called Cat or Fish, and she is a prominent fixture at the fictional ComiPa convention, where her works consistently sell out in record time.

Personality-wise, Eimi is defined by her enormous ego and her loud, public self-proclamation as the Queen of ComiPa. She is arrogant, hot-headed, and intensely competitive, believing without question that the value of a dojinshi is determined solely by how many copies it sells. This commercial focus is central to her identity; she views other creators primarily as rivals and does not hesitate to criticize or look down upon those with lower sales figures, including the protagonist, Kazuki Sendo, during his early forays into dojinshi. Despite this abrasive and boastful exterior, Eimi possesses a surprisingly childish and simple side. Her vocabulary can be limited, she often mispronounces complex words, and she has a tendency to refer to herself as Eimi-sama. This immature demeanor is also reflected in a specific phobia of green vegetables like seaweed, which stems from an embarrassing incident related to her teeth.

Eimi was not always driven purely by commercial instincts. In her earlier days as a dojinshi artist, she created works full of fresh and passionate ideas, but her customers reacted to them coldly. Deeply hurt by this rejection, she reevaluated her approach and consciously shifted to a style focused on market research and guaranteed sales, believing that this was the only path to success. This change in philosophy caused a significant rift with Yuu Inagawa, a fellow dojinshi creator who was once a close friend. Their relationship in the story is a turbulent rivalry defined by constant bickering, name-calling, and physical confrontations; Eimi mockingly calls Yuu Hot Springs Panda, while Yuu retaliates by calling her Obaka Eimi, a pun combining her name with the word for fool. They have a love-hate dynamic that provides much of the series' comedic conflict.

Within the story, Eimi serves as a formidable rival and a benchmark for commercial success. Her initial disdain for Kazuki, based on his low sales and inexperience, acts as a primary challenge for him to overcome. She represents the school of thought that prioritizes popularity and profit over personal expression, contrasting with characters like Yuu and Aya Hasabe, who value the passion behind the work. However, her character develops beyond this one-dimensional rivalry. Underneath her tough and competitive veneer, she shows signs of having a naive and even cute side, such as her fondness for fish. Her backstory of artistic hurt and her subsequent transformation into a sales-obsessed creator invites understanding, as people who knew her from before, like the editor Minami Makimura, regret this change. In her interactions with Kazuki, as he works to match her sales numbers, there are hints of respect, and her character arc includes moments of vulnerability, such as a powerful scene where she injures her drawing hand, revealing the depth of her dedication and frustration. While she champions commercialism, her genuine, first-class artistic talent and her ability to accurately read public trends are undeniable, making her a force to be reckoned with on the convention floor.
