Paladin Alexander Andersong, sometimes romanized as Alexander Anderson, is a major antagonist in the anime Hellsing. He is a Catholic priest and one of the most prized operatives of Section XIII of the Vatican, a secret division known as the Iscariot Organization. This agency is devoted to hunting vampires and other enemies of the Church, and Andersong serves as its ultimate hunter and trump card.
Very little is known about his origins. His real age, name, and country of birth are never confirmed, and the series offers only fragments of his past. In a flashback he is shown kneeling on a sidewalk before a tall, shadowy figure dressed in archaic clothing, holding a gun and appearing to turn it on himself, which suggests a traumatic encounter with the supernatural that shaped his later life. At some point he was recruited into the Iscariot Organization and underwent biotechnological modification that made him a Regenerator, a superhuman capable of instantly healing wounds, placing him on equal footing with the vampires he hunts.
