Mitsune Konno, commonly called by her nickname Kitsune, which means fox in Japanese, is a resident of Hinata House and one of the older girls living there. She is a freelance writer in name, but in practice she is extremely lazy and rarely does any actual writing. Instead, she spends most of her time drinking sake, gambling on horse races, and looking for easy ways to make money, often through scams or by taking advantage of others. Despite this, she possesses a sharp and cunning mind, which is the reason behind her nickname. She is also flirtatious and uses her charm to get what she wants. Underneath her carefree and opportunistic exterior, she has a good heart and genuinely cares about the people around her, especially Naru Narusegawa, who has been her close friend since school. Kitsune is a key instigator of many situations at the inn, frequently teasing Keitaro Urashima and meddling in his relationship with Naru, as she sees potential between them and actively tries to push them together. She often hides bottles of alcohol around her room and is seen intoxicated regularly. In the OVA Love Hina Again, her role continues as a source of mischief and a supporter of the main couple, though she also begins to take on more responsibility by eventually leaving the inn to manage a cafe. Her notable abilities are not supernatural but rather her social intelligence, persuasive skills, and talent for reading people and situations, which she uses to manipulate events to her benefit or to help her friends. Kitsune's development is subtle; while she remains a trickster, she shows moments of maturity and a willingness to help out when it truly matters.
