OVA
Description
Mitsune Konno, commonly called Kitsune, is a resident of the Hinata House and a close childhood friend of Naru Narusegawa. In the Love Hina Again OVA, she remains one of the main characters, continuing her role as a scheming yet good‑hearted presence in the inn. Born on August 31, 1979, she is in her late teens and works as a freelance writer, though she rarely seems to actually write and is often seen loafing, drinking sake, or placing bets on horse races. Her nickname, Kitsune, means fox in Japanese and reflects both her cunning, opportunistic nature and her sharp, street‑smart mind. Underneath her lazy and mischievous exterior, she possesses a genuine kindness and regularly helps others, especially when it comes to matters of romance. She is a natural meddler who enjoys pushing Keitaro Urashima and Naru together, as she believes they are meant for each other and wants to see them happy. She also has a personal stake in the events of Love Hina Again: when Grandma Hina announces that Keitaro can choose a bride from among the residents, Mitsune joins the other girls in trying to win his affections, motivated in part by the prospect of marrying a Tokyo University man who also owns the inn. Despite her competitive side, she never loses her playful, teasing manner and often uses her Kansai dialect to charm or manipulate. Her key relationships include Naru, whom she has known since childhood, and Keitaro, whom she enjoys teasing but truly cares for. She also has a close bond with Kaolla Su, having taught Su Japanese and passed on her Osaka accent. Mitsune does not undergo a dramatic personality change in Love Hina Again, but her actions show a mix of self‑interest and genuine concern for her friends. Her notable abilities are her quick wit, her skill at reading people and situations, and her talent for swindling small amounts of money or favors. She is also a surprisingly capable schemer, able to set up elaborate scenarios to achieve her goals. In summary, Mitsune Konno is the easy‑going, fox‑like friend who balances her laziness with loyalty and her mischief with warmth, remaining a constant source of comic relief and emotional support in the Hinata House.
