TV-Series
Description
Lana Ines is the base commander of the Funeral unit, the organization tasked with combating the alien threat in the series. She holds the rank of major and oversees the military operations at the base. Despite her position, some of her subordinates initially doubt her capabilities because she is a woman, a bias she must contend with in her command role. Her outward appearance of success conceals a painful personal history: she lost her young daughter, a tragedy that deeply affects her and informs her motivations throughout the story. This loss drives her dedication to her duty and may influence her decisions as the conflict unfolds. She is a capable and determined leader, though her past grief sometimes manifests in a hardened demeanor. Her key relationships within the Funeral unit involve her interactions with the main characters, including Takuto Kaneshiro, who becomes the pilot Ryu Soma, and other members such as Guinevere Green and Dan Simmonds. As the commander, she is responsible for strategic decisions and the welfare of her personnel, often grappling with the moral complexities of the war against the aliens. Her development in the series involves confronting her past trauma and reconciling her personal loss with the demands of leadership. She does not possess supernatural abilities but demonstrates notable skills in military command, tactical planning, and maintaining order under pressure. Her role is essential to the functioning of the Funeral organization and the broader narrative of the series.
