TV-Series
Description
Erika, known as Arika Amazake in the original Japanese version, is a prominent character throughout the Medabots franchise. She is a childhood friend of the protagonist, Ikki Tenryou, and attends the same school. Her defining characteristic is her ambition to become a journalist, a dream she actively pursues as a dedicated member of the school's newspaper club. She initially writes for the Riverview Review, and in the sequel series, she establishes her own publication, the Amazake Newspaper. Her primary motivation is the relentless pursuit of a good story, always on the lookout for the next big scoop. This drive often leads her to follow Ikki and his Medabot, Metabee, as their frequent involvement in significant events provides prime material for her articles.

Personality-wise, Erika is strong-minded, feisty, and can be quite bossy, often pressuring or dragging Ikki into her investigations to help her get a story. Despite her sometimes forceful and tomboyish demeanor, she reveals a softer, more feminine side in certain situations, such as her secret hobby of tending to a hidden flower garden. She is also known to tease Ikki frequently, but this flippant attitude is understood to hide a genuine fondness for him. Her commitment to journalism makes her persistent, occasionally placing her in dangerous situations that require rescue from others.

In the story, Erika serves as a key supporting character. Her role is primarily that of a reporter, documenting the Robattle-related events that unfold around her. Her Medabot partner is a Sailor-Multi unit she calls Brass, who primarily functions as a camera girl to assist in her reporting rather than as a dedicated combat Medabot. In the sequel Medarot Damashii, she continues her journalistic work, now investigating the emergence of the emotionless Kilobots and their impact on society. She finds herself in competition with the school's broadcast club, leading to a rivalry with a student named Masu Izumi. In one instance, her investigative skills are crucial in clearing Ikki's name after he is falsely incriminated by edited video footage.

Her relationship with Ikki is central to her role. As his childhood friend, she is often seen accompanying him on his adventures, either as a willing supporter or as someone reluctantly dragged along to further her own goals. While their dynamic is often played for comedy, with her bossing him around, there is an underlying supportive friendship. Some stories suggest the potential for deeper romantic feelings, as she is occasionally shown to be jealous when Ikki interacts with other girls like Karin or Nae.

Erika's development across the series shows subtle shifts. In Medarot Damashii, her personality is noted by some to become more spiteful compared to her original portrayal. Her narrative focus is also somewhat reduced in the sequel, where she functions more as a supporting character helping Ikki with the Kilobot threat rather than a primary driver of the plot. However, she never abandons her journalistic identity.

As a Medafighter herself, Erika favors Sailor-type and female Knight-type Medabots. While her trademark and most consistent partner is Brass, in various video games she has also been shown using other units from these categories, such as Pretty Prime, Last Sailor, and Gallant Lady. Her abilities as a fighter are competent, but her primary strength lies in her tenacity, investigative skills, and resourcefulness in uncovering information, making her a capable reporter and a valuable ally.
