Description
Chris Hawken is a central figure who first appears as a young boy in a wheelchair, yet his true nature is that of a powerful, non-corporeal entity choosing to inhabit a physical form. His physical body is frail and disabled, a consequence of expending a great deal of his energy to resurrect the protagonist, Juna Ariyoshi, following her fatal motorcycle accident. He communicates exclusively through telepathy, often relying on his young assistant, Cindy Klein, to convey his thoughts to others.
As a mentor figure, Chris initially presents himself as a guide and savior. He offers Juna a second chance at life in exchange for her becoming the Avatar of Time, a warrior tasked with protecting the Earth from monstrous, pollution-born entities known as the Raaja.
