Description
Mr. Dickenson is a supporting character in the anime series Beyblade, first appearing in the episode Take it to the Max. He holds the position of Chairman of the BBA, the Beyblade Battle Association, and is instrumental in forming the team known as the Bladebreakers. He personally recruits Tyson Granger, Kai Hiwatari, Ray Kon, Max Tate, and Kenny the Chief to represent the BBA in international tournaments. Throughout the Asian and American tournaments, he accompanies the team alongside Tyson’s grandfather, Ryu, acting as both a manager and a mentor figure.

In terms of personality, Mr. Dickenson presents himself as a composed, easygoing man who rarely loses his temper, yet he is shrewd and not easily manipulated. He possesses a deep knowledge of the Beyblade world and its inner workings, often appearing to be aware of events and schemes months before others. He is described as the behind-the-scenes money man who financed the Bladebreakers, and his involvement with the team’s training and development is more extensive than what is overtly shown on screen. Despite his professional demeanor, he shows genuine concern for the well-being of the bladers and the integrity of the sport.

His motivations center on fostering fair competition, protecting the Beyblade community, and guiding young talent. He makes critical decisions during championship events, such as mediating the outcome of the final battle between Tyson and Kai, weighing factors like contestant safety and the condition of the Beyblades. He is also willing to make unpopular choices when he believes they are correct.

Mr. Dickenson’s role in the story evolves across the series. In the first season, he is the authority who assembles the team and sets them on the path to world championships. In Beyblade V-Force, he takes a more proactive role, even revealing an old laboratory where he once investigated a mysterious rock three decades earlier, hinting at his long history with unusual Beyblade phenomena. In Beyblade G-Revolution, he remains a figure within the BBA and later interacts with the rival organization BEGA. He maintains a relationship with other influential figures, such as Dr. Zagart, who visits him after many years.

Key relationships include his working partnership with Tyson’s grandfather Ryu, with whom he travels and oversees tournaments, and his mentor-like connection to the Bladebreakers as a whole. He is not a blader himself, so his abilities are administrative and diplomatic rather than combative. He wields significant authority within the Beyblade community and is trusted to make final rulings on contentious battles.

Physically, Mr. Dickenson is depicted as a short, older man with a bald head, a large white mustache, and black eyes. He is almost always seen wearing a business suit and a bowler hat, and he walks with a cane. His appearance remains consistent across the original series, V-Force, and G-Revolution. He does not undergo major character development—his role is stable as a wise, behind-the-scenes leader who provides stability and guidance to the younger bladers.
