TV-Series
Description
King Alfor is the deceased former king of the planet Arus and the father of Princess Allura. He is a posthumous character in the series, whose presence is felt through his past actions and his appearances as a ghost.
Before his death, King Alfor was responsible for several key preparations for the defense of Arus. He commissioned the construction of the network of tunnels that connect the Castle of Lions to the lairs where the Voltron Lions are kept. His reign ended when the planet was invaded by the forces of the evil empire Doom. After the witch Haggar used her magic to break the super-robot Voltron apart, King Alfor engaged in single combat against Emperor Zarkon in the Valley of Zohar, a canyon located near his castle. Alfor was killed in this duel, and his body was laid to rest in the royal tomb beneath the Castle of Lions.
Despite his death, King Alfor plays a vital role in the story as a spiritual guide. His ghost appears to Princess Allura, her advisor Coran, and the Voltron Force. One of his most significant appearances is when the team seeks the keys to activate the five lion ships, and his spirit provides crucial guidance. Throughout the conflict with Planet Doom, his ghost continues to manifest, often in the royal tomb or within the lions themselves, to offer wisdom and counsel to his daughter and the team. His primary motivation is the protection of Arus and the success of Voltron, a duty he continues to fulfill even in death.
His most important relationship is with his daughter, Princess Allura, to whom he appears most frequently to offer comfort and advice. He is also a respected figure for Coran and the original Voltron Force, who look to his memory and his spectral guidance for leadership. No specific notable abilities beyond his ability to manifest as a ghost and communicate with the living are detailed.
