Mercurymon, also known as Mercuremon, is a fictional character and a key antagonist in the anime Digimon Frontier. He is a successor to the Ten Legendary Warriors and wields the Human Spirit of Steel, the power left behind by the legendary AncientWisemon. His entire body is composed of fine mirrors that can reflect almost any incoming force, not just light, and he carries shields known as the Shield of Irony on each arm. These shields allow him to absorb enemy attacks and reflect or return the power against his opponents.

Mercurymon was created from the Human Spirit of Steel by the fallen Celestial Digimon Cherubimon and initially sided with him, taking part in absorbing the Digicode of the Digital World. However, he never truly wished to serve Cherubimon forever; he is driven by self‑interest and a desire for his own supremacy. He is a crafty, manipulative, and treacherous strategist who thinks of many battle plans simultaneously, often muttering arguments to himself as his mind works quickly. He has an aristocratic bearing and focuses on his own methods, even in battle, where he elaborates on the splendor of his weapons and strategies. Despite feigning loyalty, he serves himself first and plans long‑term schemes.

Mercurymon acts as an advisor among the Warriors of Evil, providing them with wisdom, and is the most effective of Cherubimon’s warriors aside from Duskmon. He has a mirror for a face and similar mirror wrist guards, giving him a distinctive and odd appearance. His role in the story is that of a calculating antagonist who works to gather Seraphimon’s data after the loss of the Beast Spirit of Earth. He eventually evolves into the larger form Sephirothmon, inside which he battles Takuya Kanbara directly. Using Seraphimon’s acquired data, he further evolves into Black Seraphimon, but is ultimately defeated and his Human Spirit of Steel is scanned. Even after that defeat, he persists briefly in his Sephirothmon form before being destroyed.
