TV-Series
Description
Greymon is a Champion Level Digimon, best known as the evolved form of Agumon, the partner of Taichi Kamiya from the original Digimon Adventure series. By the time of Digimon Adventure 02, which takes place three years after the first adventure, Greymon has already been established as a powerful and trusted ally. As a dinosaur-like creature, he is characterized by his large size, orange skin with blue stripes, and a distinctive brown helmet-like shell on his head that features three horns: two large ones resembling antlers on the sides and a single horn on his nose. Despite his fierce and aggressive appearance, Greymon is depicted as highly intelligent and remains one of the most powerful Champion-level Digimon.

In Digimon Adventure 02, Greymon continues to serve as a protector of the Digital World alongside his human partner, Tai. However, his primary role shifts from being a main fighter to providing crucial support for the new generation of DigiDestined. After the Digimon Emperor, Ken Ichijouji, began his reign of terror by placing Control Spires across the Digital World to enslave native Digimon, Greymon took an active part in the resistance. He worked to destroy these spires alongside other Digimon from the original group, such as Gabumon, Tentomon, and Palmon, helping to reclaim territory and free enslaved creatures in areas separate from where the new heroes operated.

A significant and troubling event occurs when the Digimon Emperor captures Greymon and places a Dark Ring on him, taking control of his will. Under this control, the Emperor attempts to force Greymon to digivolve into his Ultimate form, MetalGreymon. However, the unnatural and corrupted nature of the evolution causes a malfunction, resulting in Greymon transforming into the mindless and destructive SkullGreymon instead. This failed evolution demonstrates the dangers of the Emperor's methods and the violent rejection of a forced digivolution. It was not until later, using a more powerful Dark Spiral, that the Emperor successfully forced Greymon to digivolve into a dark, virus-version of MetalGreymon.

Greymon's key relationships are deeply rooted in loyalty and friendship. His bond with Tai is the foundation of his character, built on mutual trust and years of shared battles. When he is freed from the Digimon Emperor's control, he resumes his natural role as an ally. He also forms a significant, though indirect, relationship with the antagonist Black War Greymon. As the original War Greymon's Champion form, Greymon's existence is intrinsically linked to that of his dark counterpart, who was created from one hundred Control Spires. Unlike the aggressive and nihilistic Black War Greymon, the true Greymon represents a natural life of purpose, friendship, and fighting to protect others. In a confrontation where Agumon digivolves to War Greymon to duel his dark duplicate, it is not through sheer force but through conversation that the original trio of Agumon, V-mon, and Wormmon help Black War Greymon reconsider his bleak view of existence, offering him the simple concept of enjoying life with friends as an alternative purpose.

Regarding his development, while Greymon himself does not undergo a major personality shift in this series, his role highlights the lasting consequences of the previous generation's efforts. He is a testament to the ongoing struggle to maintain peace, and his capture by the Emperor serves as a major plot point to demonstrate the new villain's reach and cruelty. Ultimately, Greymon reaffirms his role as a cornerstone of the DigiDestined's power, appearing when needed to lend his strength to protect both the Digital and Real Worlds from emerging threats. His notable abilities are primarily combat-oriented, making his entire body a weapon. His signature attack is the Nova Blast, also known as Mega Flame, where he fires a massive, incredibly powerful fireball from his mouth. He also utilizes physical attacks such as Great Horns Attack, where he slashes enemies with the powerful horns on his head, and Tail Crash, where he batters opponents with his powerful tail.
