Description
Lin is a member of the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate, a position he shares with his brother Shin. He originally worked under Spike Spiegel when Spike was still part of the syndicate. After Spike left the organization, Lin transferred his allegiance to Vicious and was tasked by the syndicate elders with protecting him. Lin is characterized by a strong sense of loyalty to those he serves, but he does not condone needless violence. This is evident when he chooses to subdue Spike with a tranquilizer dart rather than a lethal bullet during their encounter on Callisto, allowing Vicious to escape. Lin's primary motivation is his commitment to the syndicate and to Vicious, a loyalty he ultimately proves through self-sacrifice. His role in the story is as a secondary antagonist who appears in the Jupiter Jazz episodes. He accompanies Vicious to a Red Eye drug deal on Callisto, where he first prevents a direct confrontation between Spike and Vicious by tranquilizing Spike. Later, when Gren aims a gun at Vicious, Lin jumps in front of the bullet and is killed instantly. His death is referenced afterward, with Spike remarking that Lin's soul is lost because he died to protect someone unworthy of that devotion. Lin's notable abilities include proficiency with firearms and knowledge of syndicate operations, such as verifying the purity of the Red Eye drug. His relationship with Vicious is that of a devoted subordinate, while his past under Spike creates a tense but not hostile dynamic between them. Lin's limited character arc highlights the cost of blind loyalty within the criminal world.
