OVA
Description
Nena Hagen is a supporting antagonist in the anime Agent Aika. She is a young woman with long pink hair and blue eyes, and she serves as a loyal subordinate to the series' primary villain, Rudolf Hagen. Her exact origins are ambiguous; she is a test tube baby like Rudolf, and it is unclear whether she is his biological sister or simply another genetically engineered individual with no blood relation. Regardless, she holds deep respect and love for Rudolf that extends beyond typical sibling affection, and she becomes intensely jealous of the protagonist Aika Sumeragi when Rudolf takes an interest in her.
Nena's personality is marked by sadism and emotional instability. She often walks around in minimal clothing and takes pleasure in punishing the black Delmos—Rudolf's female soldiers—for their failures, maintaining strict discipline through fear. Her unstable mood makes her unpredictable, but her primary motivation is to earn Rudolf's approval and to eliminate any woman she perceives as a threat to their bond, particularly Aika.
In the story, Nena acts as a secondary obstacle for Aika and her allies, carrying out Rudolf's plans and directly opposing the salvager. She later receives from Rudolf an Alternate Metal panty, a piece of technology that grants her the ability to transform into a more powerful form, enhancing her combat capabilities. Despite this boost, she ultimately fails to defeat Aika. In the conclusion of the series, both Nena and Rudolf are launched into space together, never to be seen again, with the implication that they perished.
Nena Hagen appears not only in the original Agent Aika OVA but also in the prequel series AIKa Zero, which further explores the early activities of her and Rudolf. Her role in the narrative is that of a devoted, possessive, and dangerous antagonist whose actions are driven by her obsessive loyalty to Rudolf and her intense jealousy of Aika. She does not undergo significant character development, remaining a static figure defined by her sadistic temperament and single-minded devotion until her disappearance. Her notable ability is her transformation via the Alternate Metal, which briefly makes her a more formidable foe.
