Description
Kyouta Kamikurata is the main protagonist of the anime Aquarian Age: Sign for Evolution. He is a high school student with a deep passion for music who dreams of becoming a successful rock star. Rather than pursue a conventional college education, he wants to start a rock band, but he is initially hesitant to tell his parents about his ambitions. Kyouta plays the harmonica and also serves as the vocalist for his band. He eventually forms the band T.L. Signal alongside his friends Junichi Kojima on keyboard and Shingo Hirota on guitar.

In terms of personality, Kyouta is free-hearted, calm, and somewhat introverted. He tends to keep his concerns to himself and rarely shows outward distress, which can make him appear indifferent or detached, but he genuinely cares about the people around him. He is new to the experience of fame and rising popularity, yet he still approaches life with an innocent and open perspective. His love for music is his primary drive, and he uses it as a means of expression and connection.

Kyouta’s motivations are rooted in his desire to pursue a music career and to protect his childhood friend and girlfriend, Yoriko Sannou. His role in the story begins when he starts having visions of mystical girls engaged in combat. He soon discovers that these visions are real and that a secret, centuries-old war is being fought among five supernatural factions on Earth. As a Mindbreaker, Kyouta possesses the ability to manipulate the powers of these factions and can summon spiritual entities known as Muses through his music. His awakening as a Mindbreaker coincides with his decision to become a rock star. He finds himself at the center of the conflict, torn between his ordinary life and the growing responsibility to help resolve the war and save Yoriko, who becomes a key figure in the supernatural struggle.

Key relationships in Kyouta’s life include his deep bond with Yoriko, who supports his musical dreams and later becomes entangled in the conflict. He also relies on his bandmates Junichi and Shingo, and interacts with other characters such as Rumiko Sakamoto, who guides him, and Kiriko Heguri, whose own abilities are influenced by his music. Throughout the series, Kyouta develops from a reluctant and confused participant into a more determined and accepting figure, learning to harness his powers and to trust in his music as a source of strength. His notable ability, the Mindbreaker power, grants him a unique role as someone who can bridge or command the various factions, making him essential to the battle for Earth and the coming Aquarian Age.
