Description
Inouva is a character who appears exclusively in the anime adaptation, serving as a primary antagonist. His origins are tied to the kingdom of Cephiro, where he was originally a non-human entity. He was a lightning elemental whose initial form resembles a giant wolf with two tendrils streaming from its head. This being was given as a birthday present from Princess Emeraude to her High Priest, Zagato. Receiving this gift from the Princess, Zagato later granted the creature his greatest desire: to obtain a human form. This act transformed the elemental into Inouva, a being with an elven appearance and manner who could better serve his new master as an advisor and loyal servant.

Inouva's personality is defined by his unwavering devotion and profound sense of duty, particularly toward Zagato. Unlike other antagonists who may act for personal gain or under magical influence, Inouva’s actions stem from pure loyalty. He is arguably Zagato’s most trusted and powerful follower, acting as his right hand and second-in-command. His sole motivation is Zagato’s happiness, believing that sacrificing his own existence is a worthy price to pay for his master’s well-being. This loyalty is so absolute that he deliberately chooses a path that leads to his own death in service of his master’s goals.

Within the story, Inouva acts as a cunning and formidable obstacle for the Magic Knights. He initially intercepts the knights and their ally Ferio by disguising himself as a girl named Sera. In this guise, he observes and attempts to exploit the budding affection between Ferio and Fuu Hououji, though this plan ultimately fails. Following this failure, he confronts the knights directly in the Sky Shrine. In this battle, he is nearly invincible and would have defeated the Magic Knights were it not for the revival of the Rune God Windam. Knowing that his shapeshifting can only be used once, he makes the sacrifice to ask Zagato to revert him to his true, bestial form as a lightning elemental to ensure the success of his mission.

Key relationships define his role. His relationship with Zagato is the most critical, built on mutual loyalty and a request that ultimately costs him his life. His past as a gift connects him to Princess Emeraude, who knows his true nature. In his human disguise as Sera, he interacts briefly with Ferio and Fuu, using their emotions as a tool. His most notable ability is his shapeshifting, allowing him to assume a humanoid elf-like form or revert to his true, powerful wolf-like elemental form. In both forms, his primary weakness is the gem embedded in his forehead. He also possesses control over lightning-based attacks, reflecting his nature as a lightning elemental. His development is one of grim resolve, as he willingly sacrifices his humanoid existence and ultimately his life for his master. He is defeated when Princess Emeraude, unwilling to let the Magic Knights die, reveals his weakness to Hikaru Shidou, who then strikes the jewel in his forehead.
