TV-Series
Description
Pashmina, known in the Japanese version as Mafurā-chan, is a young female hamster who is owned by June, a girl connected to several of the other hamster owners in the neighborhood. She is about five years old, with tan-brown and white fur, and she is almost never seen without her favorite pink scarf. Her Japanese name is tied to scarves, reflecting her strong fondness for them, and pink is the color she loves most. She appears regularly in the television series and in several of the franchise's films.
Pashmina has a sweet, humble, and gentle personality. She is quiet and somewhat reserved, speaking less than many of her companions, but she is widely regarded as wise and thoughtful. She is also very responsible and reliable, with a strong maternal side. She is sensitive to the feelings of others and is known as an excellent listener, someone the other hamsters can turn to when they need comfort, reassurance, or practical help.
Her main motivation centers on caring for the friends around her. This is most visible in her relationship with Penelope, the youngest hamster in the group, whom she treats like a younger sister. Pashmina looks after Penelope with great patience and is very protective of her, and the two share a close, sister-like bond. Her nurturing nature extends to the rest of the group as well, and she enjoys knitting cozy scarves for her friends during the colder months as a way of showing affection.
Within the group, Pashmina serves as a calm, caring presence. She does not seek attention, but she helps stabilize the group by looking after its youngest member and supporting her friends when they face problems. She stays friendly with everyone, yet she keeps her distance from romantic matters. Howdy and Dexter both have a crush on her and frequently compete or argue over her, which makes her uncomfortable; she believes she is too young to develop a crush and does not really notice that they are trying to win her affection.
Pashmina's development across the story is subtle, as she generally remains true to her gentle nature. Her growth is shown mainly through her deepening bond with Penelope and through her patient handling of the attention from Howdy and Dexter. Her notable abilities include her talent for knitting and making scarves, her emotional sensitivity, and her dependable, practical nature, all of which make her a steady and reassuring member of her circle of friends.
