Description
Nambara, whose full name is Koutarou Nanbara, is a main character in the anime Hand Maid May. He is a wealthy and eccentric young man who describes himself as the self-proclaimed best friend and worst enemy of the protagonist, Kazuya Saotome. Possessing an egomaniacal personality, Nambara is deeply jealous of Kazuya's abilities and constantly frustrated by being outdone by him, despite Kazuya's relative poverty. This jealousy drives much of his behavior throughout the story.
Nambara's primary motivation is to see Kazuya suffer and to prove his own superiority. He is the catalyst for the entire plot: he deliberately gives Kazuya a computer virus under the pretense of helpful software, an act that leads Kazuya to accidentally order the cyberdoll May from the Cyberdyne Corporation.
