TV-Series
Description
Hiroaki Ishida is the father of Yamato Ishida and Takeru Takaishi. His background is defined by his divorce from his wife, Natsuko Takaishi, which occurred in 1995 when their sons were still very young. Following the divorce, Hiroaki retained custody of his elder son, Yamato, while Natsuko took custody of the younger son, Takeru.

By profession, Hiroaki is a dedicated reporter for Fuji Television. His career is a central part of his identity, and he is often depicted working long hours, even on weekends and during holidays. This commitment to his job gives him the appearance of a reserved and somewhat distant workaholic. At home, he does not involve himself much in household chores, a responsibility that frequently falls to his son Yamato.

Despite his tough exterior and gruff demeanor, which includes being a heavy smoker, Hiroaki is a fundamentally caring and friendly person. He has a deep love for both of his sons, and the divorce affected him profoundly; he is known to carry an old photograph of his intact family in his wallet. His relationship with Yamato is particularly close, as they share similar personalities and seem to understand each other on a deep level. There is a running dynamic between them where Yamato often acts as the more responsible one, jokingly referring to them as two single men sharing an apartment and looking after his father. Hiroaki also has a noticeable soft spot for his younger son, Takeru.

Hiroaki stands out as one of the most involved and informed parents in the series. Unlike many adults who remain oblivious to the children's adventures, Hiroaki becomes fully aware of the existence of the Digital World and the Digimon. During the invasion of Odaiba by the villain Myotismon, he learns the truth from Yamato. From that point on, he becomes a crucial ally to the DigiDestined, trusting his sons implicitly and offering them valuable support. He is shown to have a calm and logical mindset, piecing together extraordinary events without difficulty and trusting the children's judgment even when it involves great danger.

His role continues in the subsequent series, where he assists the new generation of DigiDestined. For example, he uses his position and connections as a reporter to investigate suspicious activities, such as the actions of the villain Yukio Oikawa. He also acts as a chaperone for a camping trip, fully aware that it is a cover to allow the children to return to the Digital World to battle the Digimon Emperor without raising suspicion from other parents. Hiroaki is shown to be a wise and respectful man who knows when to step back and trust the younger generation to fight their own battles.
