Description
Etemon is a major antagonist from the Digital World, first appearing as a powerful Ultimate-level Digimon who rules over a large desert region on the Server Continent. He is one of the first creations of Apocalymon, placing him in a lineage of significant villains alongside Devimon and Myotismon. His primary base of operations is an inverted pyramid, which houses the core of the Dark Network, a vast and malevolent information grid that he uses to monitor and control much of the surrounding territory.

In terms of personality, Etemon is defined by his enormous ego and his persona as an Elvis Presley impersonator. He is flamboyant, theatrical, and considers himself a great singer and a superstar, often forcing his minions to listen to and praise his music. He is easily frustrated when others fail to acknowledge his supposed greatness. Despite his comical and bombastic demeanor, he rules as a ruthless crime lord, maintaining a large army of enslaved or obedient Digimon, including Gazimon and Monochromon. While not particularly intelligent or technically skilled himself, he relies on his henchmen and has a notable rivalry with the captive Datamon, whom he once defeated and forced to administer his network.

Etemon's primary motivation is the expansion and maintenance of his power and dominion. He sees himself as the King of Digimon and seeks to eliminate anyone who threatens his rule, particularly the DigiDestined when they arrive on Server. He is driven by an inflated sense of self-importance and a desire for constant admiration. After his transformation into MetalEtemon, his motivation shifts towards revenge against the DigiDestined for his previous defeat.

His role in the story is that of the second primary antagonist faced by the DigiDestined after Devimon. He serves as a major obstacle on the Server Continent, forcing the children to confront their own inner strengths and ultimately discover the Crests needed to achieve Ultimate-level evolution. His defeat at the hands of MetalGreymon marks a turning point, though he later returns as a more formidable threat. In his return as MetalEtemon, he functions as a direct antagonist for the subgroup of DigiDestined consisting of Joe and Mimi, pursuing them through the Digital World during the Dark Masters arc.

Key relationships define his narrative. He holds a bitter enmity with Datamon, whom he imprisoned and tortured for control of the Dark Network; this betrayal ultimately leads to Etemon's first downfall. Upon his return as MetalEtemon, he encounters Puppetmon, one of the Dark Masters. The two do not recognize each other and engage in a brief, humorous fight, highlighting that Etemon is not an ally of the Dark Masters. His most significant relationship is with Leomon, whom he confronts in his MetalEtemon form. In a pivotal moment, he fires an attack meant for Mimi that strikes and fatally wounds SaberLeomon, leading to his own final destruction.

Etemon undergoes a significant development, transforming from his standard form into the much more powerful MetalEtemon. After being banished into a black hole created by MetalGreymon, Etemon refuses to accept his fate and survives in a dimensional limbo. He fully absorbs the power of the Dark Network and emerges as MetalEtemon, a Mega-level Cyborg Digimon. This new form has a body plated with Chrome Digizoid, an extremely durable metal that makes him nearly invincible in combat and greatly amplifies his already immense ego.

Notable abilities include his control over the Dark Network, which he can use for surveillance and to unleash powerful dark energy attacks. His signature move is Dark Spirits, where he fires a destructive orb of dark energy that can erase anything it touches. He also possesses Love Serenade, a terrible singing voice that can demoralize opponents or even force Digimon to de-digivolve. As MetalEtemon, his abilities are enhanced with Dark Spirits Deluxe, a powerful attack that summons dark lightning from the sky. He also gains a set of wrestling-inspired physical moves, such as Banana Slip and Number One Punch, though his arrogance remains his most consistent weakness.
