Yasunori Masutani is a Japanese voice actor and narrator born on July 5, 1961, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, and raised in Hakodate. He is affiliated with Aoni Production and a graduate of Hokkaido University's Faculty of Engineering. Prior to pursuing a career in voice acting, he worked as an engineer at a semiconductor division of Toshiba. His career change was motivated by a long-standing interest in performance, which included participation in a theater troupe during his university years and work as a suit actor for live shows. He trained at the Aoni Juku academy in Tokyo.

Masutani's career encompasses a wide range of roles in anime, video games, and tokusatsu productions, as well as extensive work as a narrator. In anime, he is known for numerous roles in long-running series, including various characters in One Piece, such as Shepherd Ju Peter. He voiced Etemon and MetalEtemon in Digimon Adventure, Mercurymon in Digimon Frontier, and Gazelleman across the Kinnikuman Nisei (Ultimate Muscle) franchise. Other notable anime credits include Sainan-sensei in Asobi Asobase, the narrator in Ya Boy Kongming!, roles in Dragon Ball Super, and the father of the protagonist in Classroom of the Elite. He has also appeared in series such as Psycho-Pass, Silver Spoon, and Gegege no Kitaro.

In the realm of video games, Masutani is particularly recognized for his long-standing role as Guan Yu, and later Wei Yan, in Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors series, for which he also provided narration. His other prominent game roles include Trevor Belmont in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, That Man in the Guilty Gear series, Takeharu Kirijo in Persona 3, and the voice of Oz from Genshin Impact. He has also contributed to numerous other franchises, such as.hack, Soulcalibur, and the Atelier series.

Masutani has an extensive presence in tokusatsu, most notably providing the voice of the titular character in Ultraman Nexus. He has also voiced antagonists and monsters in Super Sentai series, including Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, Juken Sentai Gekiranger, and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. His work in dubbing foreign productions includes the role of Knock Out in the Japanese dub of Transformers: Prime and voicing Giant-Man / Hank Pym in Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers.

Beyond on-screen roles, he has been active in drama CDs, including the lead role of Kei Tonoin in the Fujimi Orchestra series, and has performed as a narrator for various television programs. His voice is described as a baritone, well-suited for both authoritative roles and nuanced character work.
