Description
Kanna Kirishima is a central member of the Imperial Combat Revue's Flower Division, originating from Okinawa, Japan, with a birth date of September 7, 1903. She stands out as the tallest and physically strongest member of the team, a distinction earned through her rigorous training as the 28th successor of the Kirishima school of Ryukyu karate. Her formidable physique and martial prowess make her the division's primary melee combatant, capable of feats of strength far beyond those of her peers, such as supporting heavy stage equipment with one hand.

Personality-wise, Kanna is characterized by a straightforward, big-hearted, and easygoing nature. Her demeanor is often described as tomboyish, which leads her to be frequently cast in male roles during the division's theatrical performances, such as the character Son Wukong from Journey to the West. Despite her tough and confident exterior, she possesses a hidden, shy side that emerges in romantic or overly sentimental situations. Another defining trait is her immense appetite; she is known to consume large quantities of food, including ten bowls of rice for breakfast, to fuel her powerful physique, and she has a keen knowledge of restaurants offering hearty meals at good prices. However, her culinary skills are noted to be limited in range.

Kanna's primary motivation stems from a deep-seated sense of duty and loyalty to the Flower Division and her comrades. She is protective of her teammates and harbors a particular fondness for children. In the story, she serves as a foundational member of the Flower Division, originally brought in by the vice-commander, and acts as a pillar of strength and resilience for the group. Notably, in moments of crisis when other members show doubt or fear, Kanna's mental fortitude remains steadfast, making her a reliable source of encouragement and power in battle. She is also trusted with piloting the airship Shogeimaru, a skill she learned before the death of the previous commander.

Her most significant relationship is her spirited rivalry with fellow team member Sumire Kanzaki. The two constantly bicker, with Kanna calling Sumire a "cactus girl" in response to being labeled a "gorilla girl". This rivalry, however, belies a deep mutual care and respect; Kanna is deeply saddened by Sumire's eventual retirement, even unable to watch the final performance. Their bond is further solidified when they discover a shared vulnerability, specifically deep-seated phobias—Kanna has a severe fear of snakes, stemming from a traumatic childhood incident where she was bitten while training alone. She also shares a strong, close friendship with Maria Tachibana, having joined the division around the same time.

Kanna undergoes a notable period of development following the mysterious death of her father at the hands of a rival. Overwhelmed by a desire for revenge, she temporarily leaves the Flower Division before ultimately choosing to return, deciding to honor his legacy by continuing her duty rather than succumbing to vengeance. On the battlefield, her abilities are formidable. Piloting a red Koubu unit configured for close-quarters combat, she is a devastating close-range attacker whose martial arts skills translate directly into immense destructive power, culminating in her special attack, the Super Rinpai, which can decimate multiple enemies at once. Her strength is such that she is considered capable of fighting demons even without her Koubu.
