Description
Kihel Heim is the eldest daughter of the wealthy Heim family, which owns mines in the town of Vicinity within the Inglessa territory on Earth. Born in the Correct Century year 2328, she is 17 years old at the start of the story and is described as a beautiful young woman with platinum blonde hair and blue eyes. Her younger sister is Sochie Heim.

Despite her status as a wealthy heiress, Kihel chooses not to immediately attend university. Instead, she possesses a strong ambition to gain real-world experience and a desire to see women actively enter society, breaking from what she perceives as outdated customs. When the Dianna Counter, the advance force of the Moonrace, launches its first attack on Earth, she sees an opportunity and uses the chaos to attach herself to Guin Sard Lineford, becoming his assistant. This position brings her into contact with the highest levels of power on both sides of the emerging conflict.

Kihel’s life is radically altered when she comes face-to-face with Dianna Soreil, the Queen of the Moon. The two are identical in appearance, a coincidence that leads them to playfully switch places as a prank. However, circumstances prevent them from immediately switching back, and Kihel is forced to assume the role of Queen Dianna on a long-term basis, leading the Dianna Counter in her stead. While she initially acts as a decoy to draw threats away from the real Queen, a role she is fully aware of, Kihel proves to be remarkably suited for the position. She demonstrates sharp political instincts, quick adaptability, and a strong will. One of her first major acts as the fake queen is to rescind a declaration of a Moonrace fiefdom, a decision made by her aggressive subordinates that she believed was against Dianna’s true will and would only lead to needless conflict.

Beyond their identical faces, Kihel and Dianna share many qualities and find their ideals are so closely aligned that they eventually consider themselves as a single person or two halves of a whole. Their bond deepens when they finally reunite, and they cooperate seamlessly, frequently switching names and roles to suit the needs of their situation. Despite this profound connection, Kihel possesses a more energetic and forceful personality than the Queen and does not share Dianna’s private longing for a simple, ordinary life. She is also highly skilled at masking her own insecurities, particularly her fear of not being able to live up to the example set by the true Queen. Her capabilities extend beyond politics; she is a skilled cook whose specialty is a preserved dish called sake-steamed chestnuts. Furthermore, she is physically capable and can handle herself in dangerous situations, once evading an assailant and engaging in hand-to-hand combat after her guards were subdued.

Kihel’s key relationships profoundly shape her journey. She initially serves as Guin Lineford’s assistant, but gradually becomes disillusioned as she realizes his ambitions do not align with her own principles or the true path to peace. Her most significant relationship is with Harry Ord, the loyal leader of the Queen’s royal guard. Harry is one of the first to realize she is impersonating Dianna, and he uses her as a shield to protect the real Queen from assassination attempts. Despite knowing she is being used in this way, Kihel falls in love with him, and he returns her affection, though his duty initially prevents him from fully expressing it. Her relationship with her sister Sochie is also crucial. While both are devastated by the war, Sochie becomes consumed by a desire for revenge against the Moonrace after their father is killed. Kihel’s compassion for the Moon people and her decision to work with them causes a rift, but her sister eventually comes to understand the situation after seeing that the real Queen, Dianna, sincerely mourned for their father.

Throughout the story, Kihel demonstrates notable abilities as a leader and strategist. She repeatedly calms the volatile Moonrace military, prevents rash actions that could escalate the war, and navigates treacherous political waters. When the conflict expands to the Moon itself, she participates directly in the final operation, traveling there on a ship to help destabilize the true villains of the conflict who had manipulated both sides. At the story's conclusion, Kihel makes a permanent choice about her identity. Dianna Soriel decides to spend her remaining days on Earth, having been weakened by long periods of cryogenic sleep. Kihel, full of energy and commitment to peace, agrees to permanently switch places with her. She takes on the name and role of Queen Dianna and returns to the Moon to rule over the Moonrace, with the loyal Harry Ord at her side as her partner.
