TV-Series
Description
Minako Aino is the civilian identity of Sailor Venus, the Guardian of Love and Beauty in the Sailor Moon anime. She was the first of the Sailor Guardians to awaken, at age thirteen, when she was found by the white cat Artemis. For a full year before the other guardians appeared, she fought solo as Sailor V, a masked vigilante who operated in both Japan and London. During her time in England, she worked alongside an Interpol officer named Katarina, who became a close friend, and fell in love with a young man named Alan. After a traumatic incident in which she was believed dead and witnessed Alan and Katarina falling in love, she returned to Japan and eventually revealed herself to the other guardians as Sailor Venus. Her earlier experiences gave her a relatively serious, mission-focused demeanor when she first joined the team, and she initially served as a decoy princess to protect Usagi Tsukino, the real Moon Princess.

Personality-wise, Minako is athletic, friendly, romantic, resilient, and intelligent. She often displays a graceful and clever side, particularly in battle. However, as the series progresses, she becomes more lighthearted, silly, and exuberant, sharing a chaotic, comedic energy with Usagi. She dreams of becoming a famous idol and loves pop culture, chasing bands, attending auditions, and giving romantic advice. She is also a talented volleyball player and excels in physical education, though she dislikes mathematics and studying. In the anime, she is fluent in English due to her time abroad. Despite her lively exterior, she is deeply protective of her friends and takes her duty seriously.

Her primary motivation is to protect the Solar System from evil and to guard Usagi, whom she views as her princess and closest partner. As the official leader of the Inner Sailor Guardians, she possesses strong leadership skills and mediates battles, though she often lets Usagi take the spotlight. She is intensely loyal and willing to sacrifice herself for the team, as seen in the first season when she died fighting to save Sailor Moon.

Key relationships include her bond with Usagi, who is both her best friend and the person she is sworn to defend; their similar personalities and shared love of fun make them a comedic duo. Artemis, her mentor cat, lives with her and provides guidance, sharing a sibling-like, sometimes teasing rapport. She also shares a close friendship with Makoto Kino, both being the most physically capable of the Inner Guardians and both experiencing romantic misfortunes. Her relationship with Rei Hino is more competitive at times, but they respect each other. Over the course of the series, Minako matures from a driven solo warrior into a more carefree but still dependable team member, though she always retains a core of responsibility.

Her abilities as Sailor Venus revolve around light, love energy, and metal. Her signature attack is the Crescent Beam, a laser fired from her finger. She also uses the Love-Me Chain, a golden chain that can bind enemies or be used as a weapon, and later gains the Rolling Heart Vibration and Venus Love and Beauty Shock. In her Super forms, her attacks become more powerful. She possesses superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to make great leaps, and she is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, gained from her solo career as Sailor V. She can also use team attacks such as the Sailor Planet Attack in combination with the other guardians.
