Description
Chito hails from a settlement in the lower strata of a massive, decaying city. Her grandfather sent her away with Yuuri during wartime, coinciding with the settlement's collapse into violent conflict over dwindling resources. This event initiated their ascent through the city's layers, carrying minimal supplies: an Arisaka Type 38 rifle and Chito's journal.

She has black hair typically in twintails and wears a green military uniform, pants, a Brodie helmet, gloves, and brown boots. Her appearance starkly contrasts the harsh industrial surroundings, underscoring her fragility within the decaying world.

Literate solely in Contemporary Kana, Chito cannot read kanji or Latin alphabets. She values knowledge, collecting books during travels and documenting experiences in her journal—though she ultimately burns it with other books for warmth. Generally calm and composed, she exhibits flashes of anger, particularly toward Yuuri's impulsive destruction of cityscapes or burning of books.

Mechanically adept, Chito operates and maintains their modified Kettenkrad military vehicle. She understands machines but struggles with firearms, deferring combat to Yuuri. Her pragmatic nature prioritizes efficient routes and resource conservation, countering Yuuri's adventurousness. Acrophobia complicates their ascents through vertical city structures.

Chito evolves from questioning their nomadic survival-focused existence to valuing transient moments. Encounters with remnants of lost civilization, like an AI burdened by eternal memory, deepen her existential reflections. The Kettenkrad's destruction marks a pivotal loss, stripping mobility and symbolizing irreversible decline. Her emotional breakdown at its failure reveals vulnerability beneath her practicality.

As the last humans facing extinction, Chito and Yuuri discard non-essentials—including her cherished camera and books. Upon reaching the barren city summit, they share a final meal, engage in a snowball fight, and sleep together. This conclusion signifies peaceful acceptance of their end, resolving their journey with shared comfort in desolation.
