Description
Nail is a Namekian warrior and the personal bodyguard to Grand Elder Guru, the leader of the Namekian race. He is described as the only Warrior-type Namekian left on Planet Namek at the time of the conflict with Frieza, making him the most powerful Namekian alive during that period. His appearance is similar to Piccolo, with a muscular build, a white cape, a purple gi, and a stoic expression that reflects his serious and dedicated nature.
Nail's personality is defined by unwavering loyalty, a strong sense of duty, and a selfless commitment to protecting his people. He is calm, composed, and highly strategic, even in the face of overwhelming odds. His primary motivation is to safeguard Grand Elder Guru and the Namekian Dragon Balls from anyone who would misuse them, particularly the galactic tyrant Frieza. In the story, Nail first appears when he introduces Krillin and later Gohan to the Grand Elder. He also briefly confronts Vegeta to buy time for Guru to unlock Gohan's potential. Under Guru's orders, he prepares to assist against the Ginyu Force, but a bad feeling leads him to return to Guru's palace, where he finds Frieza. Nail refuses to reveal the password to summon the Namekian Dragon Balls and deliberately leads Frieza away to a remote battlefield, intending to delay the tyrant so that Dende can relay the password to the Earthlings. Although Nail's power level of 42,000 is formidable, Frieza's lowest form is over ten times stronger. Nail fights bravely, landing a strike on Frieza's neck and regenerating his arm after it is ripped off, but he is ultimately defeated and left near death. His sacrifice successfully buys enough time for the Earthlings to wish Piccolo back to life and transport him to Namek.
After Piccolo arrives and finds the dying Nail, Nail pleads with Piccolo to fuse with him. He explains that by assimilating with Piccolo, his power and consciousness will merge to create a stronger warrior capable of challenging Frieza. Piccolo agrees, and through the Namekian technique of Assimilation, Nail gives up his physical body and individual identity, permanently joining with Piccolo. This fusion dramatically increases Piccolo's power, making him a match for Frieza's second form.
