Description
Biko Daitokuji, often referred to as B-ko, is the primary antagonist and rival to the protagonist in the Project A-ko film and original video animations. She is introduced as the sole heiress of the immensely powerful Daitokuji Financial Group, a corporation known for supplying advanced robotic weapons systems to the Global Defence Force. As a student at Graviton High School, she is academically gifted and maintains a poised, respectful demeanor in front of teachers and authority figures, which conceals a deeply arrogant, selfish, and obsessive personality. Her wealth and status afford her considerable resources, but it is her genius-level intellect and extraordinary proficiency in mechanical engineering and robotics that define her capabilities.

Her primary motivation is an all-consuming obsession with her bubbly and childlike classmate, Shiiko Kotobuki, known as C-ko. This desire to win C-ko's affection is constantly thwarted by C-ko's best friend and protector, Eiko Magami, known as A-ko. The rivalry between B-ko and A-ko has deep roots, originating in a childhood incident where B-ko, as a spoiled bully, would pick on C-ko only to be beaten up by A-ko. This unresolved childhood enmity is rekindled when the three meet again at Graviton High School, and B-ko immediately becomes fixated on befriending C-ko, often by attempting to eliminate A-ko. Over time, this fixation evolves into a romantic desire, though she often rationalizes it as simply wanting to be C-ko's best friend. Her pursuit of this goal is so intense that defeating A-ko frequently becomes more important than actually winning C-ko's approval. When denied what she wants, her temper flares dramatically, revealing a childish and megalomaniacal nature beneath her composed exterior.

Within the story, B-ko serves as the principal source of conflict at Graviton High School, launching a series of elaborate attacks against A-ko, who largely ignores her or treats the rivalry as a nuisance. B-ko has a small group of loyal, if often underappreciated, classmates who serve as her subordinates: Asa, a manipulative spy; Uma, a pessimistic analyst; Ine, a skilled cameraperson; and Mari, a large, muscular girl who acts as her primary enforcer. These subordinates pilot her mecha, conduct reconnaissance, and assist in her schemes, often complaining about their poor compensation. Her most significant relationship is her adversarial rivalry with A-ko, which is the central dynamic of the series. However, her obsession also extends to her father, Hikaru Daitokuji, a billionaire industrialist whose own schemes sometimes intersect with his daughter's.

While B-ko does not undergo a profound personality transformation, her role and motivations shift across different continuities. In the original film and its direct sequels, such as Cinderella Rhapsody, her rivalry with A-ko escalates as she competes for the affection of the motorcyclist Kei Yuki, though this is driven more by a desire to compete with A-ko than genuine attraction. In the alternate continuity OVA A-ko the Versus (also known as Uncivil Wars), she is reimagined as a 21-year-old bounty hunter on a desert planet, partnered with a similarly reimagined A-ko. In this version, she displays no romantic interest in C-ko and instead shows attraction to a male villain, and her dynamic with A-ko shifts from bitter enemies to vitriolic allies.

Biko Daitokuji's most notable abilities lie in her genius-level intellect and her talent for designing and building advanced mecha and combat suits, often overnight. Her crowning achievement is the Akagiyama-23, a revealing purple battlesuit she often wears concealed beneath her normal clothing. This suit grants her superhuman strength and speed on par with A-ko, along with flight capabilities, wrist-mounted mini-missile launchers, and an energy whip. Despite her slender frame, she has demonstrated significant physical prowess and resilience, capable of withstanding powerful blows from A-ko and even matching her in combat without her armor in some instances. Her wealth also provides her with access to vast resources, allowing her to construct a variety of other mecha, including the Max 5000 and the Abachiyama 5, though these are typically destroyed quickly by A-ko.
