Description
Oyuki is the snow queen of the planet Neptune, a frozen world in Urusei Yatsura that is populated almost entirely by women because most of its men must leave the planet to find work. She first appears when she opens a portal connected to Ataru Moroboshi's closet in order to dispose of the excess snow piling up on her home world. The character is modeled on the yuki-onna, the snow woman of Japanese folklore, and that influence is visible in her appearance, manner, and abilities. She is typically shown with very long purple hair, red eyes, and a long, elegant kimono.
In terms of personality, Oyuki is soft-spoken, placid, graceful, and regal. She is extremely slow to anger and generally polite even in difficult situations. Beneath that calm exterior, however, she has a frighteningly cold and practical side. She is a frugal ruler who always carries an account book to manage her finances and devises ways to market products made on Neptune, such as sherbet-bird hybrids and windchimes that cool houses during the summer.
