Description
Doctor J, whose real name is Jay Null, is a pivotal character in his series as the brilliant but eccentric engineer responsible for creating the Wing Gundam and serving as the mentor to its pilot, Heero Yuy. He is easily recognized by his distinctive mechanical eye lenses, leg braces, and a prosthetic arm, physical remnants of injuries sustained during his earlier revolutionary activities. Before becoming a fugitive, he was one of the original scientists who developed the Tallgeese mobile suit but defected from the Earth Sphere Alliance as its oppression of the space colonies intensified. The assassination of his university friend, the pacifist leader Heero Yuy, was a pivotal event that solidified his resolve to fight against the Alliance.
