Description
Fuu Hououji is one of the three central protagonists summoned from Earth to the magical world of Cephiro. Before this summoning, she lived a normal life as an eighth-grade student attending a private school for the intellectually gifted, where she was a member of the kyudo (archery) club. She lives with her parents and her older sister, Kuu. Her birthday is December 12th, making her fourteen years old at the start of the story, and she stands at 155 centimeters tall with blonde hair and green eyes, often seen wearing her distinctive glasses.

Personality-wise, Fuu is distinguished by her calm, polite, and highly analytical nature. She immediately assumes the role of the voice of reason within the group, often contrasting with the more impulsive Hikaru and the initially reluctant Umi. Her intelligence is bookish and strategic; she thinks situations through before acting and is a skilled planner, a trait that may be influenced by her stated hobby of reading and enjoying role-playing games. However, her politeness often gives way to a quirky and dry sense of humor, as she has a tendency to state the obvious with complete sincerity, a habit that frequently irritates her companions. Behind her serene and smiling facade lies a strong-willed and strategic mind, and she possesses a notable sense of self-worth, believing that she must keep herself safe and healthy as a way to honor the people who love her.

Her primary motivation is the safety and well-being of her newfound friends, Hikaru and Umi. She accepts the mission to save Cephiro not out of a thirst for adventure, but out of a sense of duty and a deep-seated desire to protect others. This protective instinct is so core to her identity that her magical abilities manifest almost exclusively as defensive and restorative spells before she learns any offensive capabilities. In the story, she acts as the group's strategist, healer, and emotional anchor. Her role is crucial for survival, as she is often the one to devise plans, negotiate with strangers, and provide the calming influence needed to keep the team focused. Her key relationships include her strong, loyal friendship with Hikaru and Umi, which forms the emotional core of the narrative. She also develops a significant romantic bond with the wandering swordsman Ferio, whose life she saves, and who gives her a keepsake that she treasures.

Throughout the narrative, Fuu undergoes considerable development. Initially the most composed and logical of the three, she later struggles deeply with the moral complexities of her mission. After being forced to kill the Pillar, Princess Emeraude, at the end of the first arc, she returns to Earth profoundly affected. In the second arc, she is visibly changed; her smiles are sadder, she loses weight, and she has lost her enjoyment of video games, no longer able to view antagonists as simple villains. She tries to hide her pain from her family and friends, crying only when alone, which reveals a tendency to shoulder burdens privately. Her journey is one of reconciling her gentle, compassionate nature with the harsh realities of the duty forced upon her.

In terms of abilities, Fuu is the Magic Knight of Wind. Her arsenal of spells reflects her personality, focusing on support and defense. These include Winds of Healing to mend injuries, Winds of Protection to create a defensive barrier, and Winds of Admonishment to immobilize enemies without harming them. Her primary offensive spell is Emerald Typhoon, a powerful gust of wind capable of cutting an enemy. While she is highly proficient with a bow and arrow thanks to her archery club experience, her signature weapon is a massive greatsword forged from the mineral Escudo, which becomes impossibly heavy for anyone other than her to wield. Her ultimate power is the Rune-God (or Mashin) named Windam, a giant, four-winged bird that transforms into a mecha-like battle armor, which she pilots from a cockpit in its chest.
