TV-Series
Description
Ennil El is introduced as a resourceful and determined young woman navigating the harsh landscape of a post-war Earth. She is the daughter of a high-ranking officer in the Space Revolutionary Army, a fact that brought tragedy to her family when she was only nine years old. After a massive colony drop devastated the planet, survivors discovered her father's affiliation, leading to an attack on their home that resulted in his death. The circumstances surrounding her mother's death remain unknown, leaving Ennil an orphan forced to grow up quickly and alone in a world stripped of stability. This difficult childhood forged a tough exterior and a fierce sense of independence, leading her to become a Vulture, a scavenger who profits from selling salvaged mobile suit parts and valuable information.
Standing at 168 centimeters with long red hair and blue eyes, Ennil possesses a confident and often confrontational personality. She is characterized by a strong sense of pride and a quick, reactive aggression that often masks deep-seated loneliness. Her primary motivation early in the story is a romantic obsession with Garrod Ran, a young Vulture piloting the powerful Gundam X. What begins as a genuine attraction, fueled by the recognition of a kindred spirit also struggling with isolation, quickly curdles into a bitter vendetta after Garrod rejects her advances. Enraged by the humiliation, her love turns to hatred, driving her to pursue Garrod across the battlefield in a mobile suit with the intent to kill him for the perceived slight. This initial role as a scorned antagonist defines much of her early presence in the story, positioning her as a persistent obstacle for the crew of the battleship Freeden.
Despite this volatile beginning, Ennil El undergoes significant character development. Her cooperation with the rogue professor Dorat ultimately ends in defeat, marking a turning point that begins to diminish her obsessive rage. Later, she finds temporary refuge on Saints Island, where she works at a restaurant and even begins a relationship with an Immigration Bureau employee named Miles Goodman. It is here that she forms a crucial friendship with Toniya Malme, a crew member of the Freeden. This bond with another woman and the experience of a more stable life soften her hostility. The death of Miles at the hands of the New Earth Federation forces reignites her desire to fight, but this time she aligns with the Freeden, putting her skills to use as a valued ally rather than an enemy. By the end of the series, she has fully reconciled with Garrod, overcome her destructive hatred, and is last seen as an official couple with fellow Vulture Roybea Loy.
A talented and capable pilot, Ennil's abilities allow her to hold her own against more advanced mobile suits. She is initially seen piloting a custom-colored Zenith mobile suit, and later upgrades to the mobile armor Esperanza before returning to another custom Zenith. Her skill is notable as she consistently competes with Gundam-class units using standard or modified mobile suits, a testament to her combat acumen and strategic thinking.
